Pest Control - Frequently Asked Questions
What kinds of pests does a regular household pest control treatment cover?
My pest control service protects homes and other buildings from the common Florida house-invasive insects that crawl in under their own power. Most common are Palmetto Roaches, Ants and Spiders, and a variety of lawn-related insects. For customers in good standing I will often take care of the occasional rat for free, although a large or persistent infestation might be another matter.
But there are some pests that can get inside nonetheless because they are brought in and bypass the protective barrier, such as bugs in infested food ("pantry pests", fruit flies), and German Cockroaches - which hitch a ride on people or are inside something else brought into the house. I usually refer German Cockroach infestations to another local company.
What about flying insects? Spiders?
Residual pesticides applied to surfaces unfortunately do not keep flying insects and spiders away. Wasp nests and spiders can be killed on the spot during treatment. In the case of flying insects it is necessary to find the source and eliminate it if possible. Keeping doors closed and screens in good repair is up to the homeowner. My pest control service also helps reduce spider populations by killing all the other bugs they feed on.
What type of pest control services do you offer?
Quarterly - maintenance treatments done every three months to keep things under control. Pesticide protection is kept at peak strength by re-application every 90 days. Service calls between treatments are at no charge.
Monthly - overkill for most homes. Best for businesses such as restaurants or a bed-and-breakfast.
One-Time - but may not be enough to control or eliminate some tougher problems.
Do you do lawns?
Yes, I can do lawn spraying for ants, fleas/ticks, palmetto roaches and a few other turf insects that may invade the home. I am not licensed, however, to fertilize or treat for pests/diseases of lawns and landscaping. I also do not treat/inspect for termites or bedbugs.
Are your treatments safe for children and pets? Do I need to leave during treatment?
The pesticides I use are odorless, colorless and non-staining. They are also people and pet friendly, although the directions for the inside spray (along the baseboards) say to keep children and pets away till dry (it’ll dry in about 45 minutes). Often pet owners will isolate pets to one room while I do the rest of the house. Once dry it is no problem, and you may safely remain in the home during treatment. No worries about fish tanks unless a flea spraying is done.
What does your treatment consist of?
The basic treatment is inside and outside. Inside, the baseboards and door thresholds and garage are sprayed. Outside, a different, longer lasting material is sprayed around the foundation, doors/windows and soffits, supplemented with a granular bait. This combination acts against all common house invasive insects, but is especially good at knocking out ant colonies.
What does it cost?
We would need to first discuss your particular situation. I’m sure you will find my prices to be very reasonable.
Do you require a long-term contract?
No, I do not require a long-term contract. I feel that if you are happy with my services that you will remain an active customer. You will not be penalized for canceling your service, and I do not keep credit card information for auto-renewal purposes.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, I accept all major credit and debit cards, checks and cash. I also take payments through the bank transfer app “Zelle.”
